Survey Design and Incentives
December 19, 2025
Timing
The survey phase will begin once we have completed and analysed an initial set of interviews (target: min. 40 in-depth interviews), which we expect to reach around February 2026. The interview findings will shape the exact survey questions and hypotheses to be tested.
Incentives and funding
We intend to treat the survey as a contribution to a public good, rather than a conventional paid panel. We are exploring:
a public goods fund that receives a fixed contribution for each valid response, and
the use of quadratic funding mechanisms.
Details of the funding mechanism, amounts, and eligibility will be finalised and published before survey launch.
Anonymity and integrity of responses
We are actively exploring options for preserving respondent anonymity while protecting against obvious abuse (for example, multiple submissions from the same person or inauthentic participation). This may include collaboration with privacy tech experts / providers, which allow people to prove certain properties (such as having attended an event) without revealing their full identity.
Until a suitable technical solution is in place, we may rely on more traditional, trust-based approaches and transparent validation checks. The final approach to anonymity and integrity will be documented publicly before the survey goes live.
